The Chicken Tax... After World War II Germans went crazy for American fast food chicken! In order to help German chicken farmers, Germany put a 50% tarif on imported chickens. In retaliation (because, don't mess with our chickens!!!!), the U.S. put a 25% tax on imported trucks. This is (appropriately?) named the chicken tax!

What are the benefits of the chicken tax in each country?
What is the downside of the chicken tax in each country?
Analyze... what would have been different in the automobile industry in the last century if
there was no chicken tax?

I would use this image and video to introduce the idea or "free trade" and tariffs.
I would use a blog in my classroom twofold:
1. For parents in order to update them on what we are learning about in the classroom.
2. For students so they can find information about the class easily and having a running dialogue about what we are learning. Students can answer the questions and expand on other students' points.
What motivated you to become a tech nerd this summer?
I feel like there are a lot of new exciting educational tools coming out and I want to learn how to better seamlessly incorporate them in my classroom. I am getting a set of classroom Chromebooks next year and want to hit the ground running. (I also love Emily Hope).
What you hope to learn about in Tech Nerd Camp 2.0?
New tools and apps to better engage my students in the exciting world of historical skills! I want to use the technology to enhance the learning, not just for technology's sake.
How would you describe your current comfort level with technology? What tools do you use already in your classroom (if any)?
I use Chromebooks (Google Docs, Screencastify) and Ipods in the classroom (Google Earth, Kahoot!), but feel I could be integrating more into my classroom. I am pretty comfortable and will search things out for myself (when I have the time).
